Job Summary: Work with Operations and Development teams to plan, design, and analyze their needs according to best practices, while ensuring high levels of reliability, reusability, and supportability of the IT ecosystem. The Enterprise Architect will develop, implement, and oversee policies and procedures to ensure consistent provisioning, development, uptime, and regulatory compliance across the enterprise. The Enterprise Architect is also responsible for leading the development and maintenance of the vision and strategy roadmaps within two or more specific Technology Domain areas.

Primary Responsibilities:

- Lead the development and maintenance of the key architectural deliverables/artifacts, including standards, best practices, non-functional requirements, governance, service catalogues, approved product lists, and roadmaps across two or more specific Technology Domain areas

  • Identify technical and non-technical obstacles to meeting business/functional/non-functional requirements along with reviewing/identifying requested exceptions to established architecture standards

- Assists alignment of technology standards, architectural patterns, and practices across Programs/Projects to ensure reuse, reliability, performance, sustainability, and flexibility

- Ensures compliance with architectural principles and standards for infrastructure or application development efforts through such activities as reviews, validations, and methodology gate points

- Aides in the development of specifications for enterprise services, descriptions of applied integration patterns, and other templates for use as architectural deliverables/artifacts

  • Participates in innovation efforts and proof-of-concepts for emerging technologies; evaluate which technologies to retire or replace
  • Participates in complex Enterprise Architecture or Solutions Delivery-initiated Programs/Projects
  • Provides technical guidance to Enterprise Architect, Operations, and Development teams in order to provide solutions that are secure, scalable, reliable, sustainable, and perform well while remaining flexible with low costs

- Ensures alignment of technology standards, architectural patterns, architectural governance, and practices across Technologies, Domains, and Programs/Projects to ensure security, reuse, reliability, performance, sustainability, and flexibility

  • Establish solution selection criteria in order to ensure standards-based decision making is leveraged when selecting and implementing infrastructure, applications, middleware, monitoring, and tools
  • Participate in evaluation of systems for proper compliance with requirements for security, controls, data integrity, confidentiality, and availability

Technical Skills:

  • Remain current with technology trends and developments, technology environment and platforms, along with present and future Business objectives/capabilities/demands
  • Capable of understanding and explaining complex concepts (technologies, strategies, roadmaps, requirements) across a wide variety of audiences
  • Develop and document technical reference architecture
  • Experience guiding/teaching others in architecture principles, such as Domains, strategies (both IT and Business), roadmaps, technical standards, non-functional requirements, and solution diagramming/documentation
  • Experience in working with large distributed teams in a highly dynamic environment, including those with an onshore/offshore model
  • Advanced expertise in two or more Technology areas (i.e. development, platform, network, virtualization, storage, etc.) and Domain areas (i.e. supply chain, store, GM, etc.)
  • Demonstrated success working with standard software development life cycle models, deliverables/artifacts and tools, SOA concepts and design patterns
  • Experience designing scalable/reliable/flexible/secure solutions across heterogeneous hardware platforms, operating systems, middlewares, and infrastructure technologies
  • Experience designing business solutions for cross-functional business process and application domains, integration services, and BI
  • Technical experience with architecture, technology stacks, or overall architectural governance
  • Experience with cloud computing and/or other virtualization technologies
  • Experience establishing and documenting standards, guidelines, and best practices

Other Skills:

  • Able to convert business/functional/non-functional requirements into solutions that integrate into technology patterns, strategies, and roadmaps
  • Able to anticipate developments/trends in his/her areas of expertise
  • Able to develop and maintain positive/collaborative relationships with Partners

- Be self- motivated, operate with little to no direct supervision, and demonstrate value through decreased time to market

  • Capable of articulating and evangelizing what IS Enterprise Architecture is and driving the adoption of new technologies

- Able to assume responsibility for and balance multiple infrastructure or application development efforts
